Stargazy Mouth Music: A Song for the New Famine

Stargazy Mouth Music: A Song for the New Famine

This piece falls on the hinge between Halloween and Advent—when ghosts still walk, and hunger waits for the promised feast. The veil thins, the cupboards echo, and the songs we sing are half prayer, half warning.

A modern echo of the Cornish legend of Tom Bawcock, who once braved a winter storm and brought back enough fish to feed his starving village. The proof was baked into a single pie—seven kinds of fish, their heads rising through the crust like small miracles.

Today, the seas are calm, but the hunger returns—the nets are full, but many go unfed. SNAP cuts, rising costs, and quiet cruelty have brought waves of misery crashing on the beach.

They said no drums. So we sang with our mouths.
This film remembers an earlier feast of survival in another age of famine.

"The fish are singing through holes in the sky."

Sauerkraut Soup

Other videos (60 second shorts) in the Firefly series.
https://www.democraticunderground.com/100220623303

The reason they wear jarheads is because I could not generate images of them with their faces exposed.

Please support my videos. This one was edgier than the others by far.

Sauerkraut Soup

[Verse 1]
Rolling through the forest grey,
Tracks all squeal and maps decay.
What fuels the fight and warms the troop?
You guessed it—sauerkraut soup!

[Verse 2]
No schnitzel here, no sausage plate,
Just vinegared fog and a steel-clad fate.
The only thing we dare to scoop—
One more bowl of sauerkraut soup.

[Chorus]
Boom! goes the turret, bang! goes the roof,
But the lads are spoonin’ cabbage proof.
Command says “drive!”—but we regroup,
To slurp the lore of sauerkraut soup.

[Verse 3]
Dieter dreams of Paris lights,
Hans just wants his pants to fit right.
But glory’s drowned in fermented goop—
Stuck in time with sauerkraut soup.

[Bridge]
Tell the Fuhrer, tell the cooks,
We’ve traded guns for sour looks.
No medals pinned, no goose-step troop—
Just ghosts who fart in sauerkraut soup.

[Chorus, Louder & Worse]
Boom! goes the turret, bang! goes the roof,
Another lad down in cabbage truth.
History fades, but we recoup—
Forever chained to sauerkraut soup.

Ja , mein Freund—it’s always soup.

A little ghost story for Banned Book Week

I present my newest video A ROSE FOR EMILY for BANNED BOOK WEEK (Oct 5-11) early because a week is too short a time for such a long list. It is also a good old fashioned Halloween ghost story -- about a woman who wanted to burn her poetry after she was gone and a man who was hellbent on digging up her corpse and mocking her for eternity. Not sure if there is any lesson here or just more peeling wallpaper. Copyright Law does allow me to steal Faulkner's title for my video like he stole Miss Emily's corpse for his story. Fair is fair.

"Hope is the thing with feathers."
—Emily Dickinson

"I’d rob my own grandmother for a good story."
—William Faulkner

A Rose for Emily D.
The first time Faulkner read Miss Emily's lines
He traced her breath between the rhymes
A twirl in the meadow, so light, so bold
Like a ghost in cotton, fearless and cold
Arms raised high, she surrendered to the sky
He felt the pull, he couldn’t deny

He pondered the daring in her gentle command
The swirl of bees in her porcelain hand
No clocks ticking, no buzz in the trees
Just her secret scrawl on mothy leaves
Sealed in boxes, brittle with time
Labeled in ink: *Burn what you find*

[Chorus] With scarlet ribbons he bound each word
Lashed to a poem that he once heard
He spread out lime like a sacred vow
Around her house, beneath each bough
Night after night until the morning sun
Ghosted all that she had done

He blinked at the grave, her roses gray
Petals falling where shadows lay
The coach rolled on, wheels dull and low
And still he couldn’t let her go
No fire rose from the poet’s chest
Just boxes nested where silence rests
Ribbons red, the heart’s cold bed
Lime laid thick where her footsteps bled

[Chorus] With scarlet ribbons he bound each word
Lashed to a poem that he once heard
He spread out lime like a sacred vow
Around her house, beneath each bough
Night after night until the morning sun
Ghosted all that she had done

1000 CRANES

1000 CRANES

The Firefly Jar Series:
Old Sleepwalkers.

Fireflies blink old secrets in jars sealed tight. The jars represent fragments of memory.

I grew frustrated with AI responses to my image generation requests: “Sorry, that goes against the community standards.” Eventually, I typed in frustration: “Should I just put jars over everyone’s heads with fireflies glowing inside to contain what cannot be said?”

Suddenly, my fireflies flickered to life. Flashes of memory. I generated image after image each more startling than the rest. Each image required finding an AI that could generate an animation without balking at the prompts.

I have more clips to upload and more ideas floating around. I hope you will go see these short clips. LIKE and SUBSCRIBE to see more of my work. I have been on YOUTUBE for almost 20 years, have 497 subs and have never been monetized, so I am free to post what I like because I am not on some grind to pump out content for money.

DUers have been my main viewers over the years if we don’t count rightwing haters.

When revisionists change history -- J6 Insurrectionists and Treasonauguration

“I feel the need to make a record that exists when the revisionists attempt to change history.” That was my first post of 41 made between January and August of 2021.

I maintained this list of links to every article I could find about events surrounding J6, including the investigation and subsequent arrests of insurrectionists. I did so for no other reason than to make sure a chronological record was kept in real time because I suspected links would die and memories would dull.

Today, I add the last link to this sad chapter of American history. From NYT January 20, 2025. (A free gifted article).

Trump Grants Sweeping Clemency to All Jan. 6 Rioters
The extraordinary pardons and commutations extended to those who committed both violent and nonviolent crimes on Jan. 6, including assaulting police officers and seditious conspiracy.
https://www.nytimes.com/2025/01/20/us/politics/trump-pardons-jan-6.html?unlocked_article_code=1.q04.yDzp.OPZtQAuVTksk&smid=bs-share

140 law enforcement were injured that day defending the Congress and our Capitol. It is a stain on the MAGA Movement and the Trump administration that every one of them will carry to their graves.
